Dear Jim,
Thinking about you today and hoping that you are continuing to do well. So happy that you have continued with Rehab. Also wondering if you will continue to stay in that facility or if you will move to a half-way house. Also wondering if and when that you will have the ability to take a job in the area. Of course one of the big questions is whether you will stay in that area or move back to Key West. Where is the best place that will support your newly found sobriety? Where ever you go you will need to make a clean break with the things that supported your alcoholic pot smoking life. You can do it Jim, but it will probably be the biggest challenge you have ever faced.
I’m doing pretty well with my foot leg and back issues. I have to work almost everyday on stretching and exercises. I still go to my Club but also to a little gym just a two block walk from our apartment. It’s cheap but has all the kinds of machines which are helpful to me. It also has a gym and a decent pool.
Jeri is still working part time although she said she was going to stop working a few years ago. She likes the work, loves the other workers and they pay her very well so she has stayed on. She works when she wants to. It’s a proposition she can’t refuse. I’m really proud of her. She’s also doing volunteer work with an organization that works with ex-cons. She also worked for Hillary Clinton in her bid for the Presidency. She and I were both very disappointed when Hil didn’t make it.
I’m meeting Susan Sparks for lunch today for lunch. Susan took over my job at the Church and seems to be doing well. She’s very bright, a strong preacher and has a good heart. As you might recall she was a lawyer for several years before she became a minister.
Sure enjoyed your recent letter Jim and hope you will continue to write. In your new life writing could be something you do to keep yourself centered and grounded.
Always know that you are in my prayers daily. Jeri’s too.
Much love
Dad
