April  2011

Dear Jim,

I’ve been thinking about you a great deal lately. I tried to reach you in Georgia a few times without success. Also I’ve tried to call you on your cell phone since you’ve been back to New Hampshire without any luck. Is your cell phone working? Anyway, it’s been entirely too long since we’ve communicated.

I hope that you are doing OK. I talked to Suzy today and she said that you’re working over at Friendly’s in Lebanon. When the weather gets better will you be going back to the painting job that you had before?

I’ve been traveling a lot lately.

First I went down to spend a couple of weeks with Carol during her operation. The doctor thinks he got all the cancer that was in her but she had to have chemotherapy anyway.

Next, Jeri and I went down to spend a few days with Pat Easterling who has been diagnosed with both cancer of the liver and the pancreas. Pat has been doing better than the doctors expected but his prognosis is still grim.

The third trip we took was to Texas again. My cousin Helen died and I was asked to come down to conduct her memorial service.  Do you remember Helen and CJ? We had services for her both in Ft. Worth and Deleon. Jeri and I stayed with Scott and Estelle for a few days then we went down to spend more time with Carol who was pretty sick from her chemo-therapy.

Concerning Carol, her chemo has been real hard on her but the doctors are giving it to her to prevent more cancer from surfacing.

She will have another chemo infusion in mid April, then the last one the first week of May.

We’ll be going to California mid-May to help Jeri’s mom celebrate her 90th birthday. She has Alzheimer’s but is doing pretty well. She lives in an assisted living facility now and seems content there.

I was sorry that Coach K’s team didn’t do better in the NCAA Tournament. I picked them to win it. In fact I didn’t pick any of the teams who made the final four to be there. I’m sending you this book written by Coach K. Hope you enjoy it.

Well anyway Jim, let’s communicate better. You’re a part of my heart. I’ll probably come to New Hampshire in the early part of the summer so we’ll be able to spend some time together then. Also I hope you know that you are welcome down here too.

I love you and miss you.
