January 14, 2012

Two merchants readying for their day, bounce in their steps,

dressed in pricey, casual black,

kibbutzing about “lots,” “percentages,” a “new hire,”

munching on lox and bagels with schmears, tall coffees.

One looks incredulous at the other:”I was mesugga to go into that deal?”

“That’s nothing, in 1985 my father had to bail me out of a stupid decision to the tune of $100,000.”

They nod and chew and nod and chew and chuckle and chuckle.

The knosh is gone now and the last of their coffees.

Outside at 3rd and 30th they stand close and smoke,

then on to a Mercedes SUV and on to their beloved arenas.

Urban warriors, absolutely on the same page.
