Dripping crystal spears

catching the sun in your slender shafts,

shoulder to shoulder with your brothers and sisters

huddling together against the warmth.

 

Tomorrow the March rain will loosen your grip

and one by one,

sometimes two or three together,

you will plunge to your death below.

Or is it to your life?
