Mockingbirds sing high and low and warble in between,
a blue-jay squawking, swoops in and out.
House finches chitter-chatter from the branches,
a bunch of bushtits land on the grass
moving quick
like little cops in an old-time movie.
Palmyras, roses and impatients
reflect perfectly in the still, clear pool.
