Mockingbirds sing high and low and warble in between,

a blue-jay squawking, swoops in and out.

House finches chitter-chatter from the branches,

a bunch of bushtits land on the grass

moving quick 

like little cops in an old-time movie.

Palmyras, roses and impatients

reflect perfectly in the still, clear pool.
